I so appreciate Zits cartoon. The strip today is so relevant given the fact that I have 3 college students who have all been home over the last week asking for last minute “help”…frantic and running out the door! Ah…my coffee right now is taking me away!

As you all know by now, I read about Jeremy and his parents every morning in Zits. In today’s toon, Jeremy bemoans the fact that his mom thinks his generation is entitled.

Many of you know that I follow Zits cartoon. Jeremy and his friends give me a laugh on most days. In yesterday’s cartoon, Jeremy is dreaming of a deadbolt for his door.
I recall being a teenager and wanting the same thing. My parents refused to allow me to have a lock on my door, and I then turned around and made the same decision for my kids. They could not understand why they could not have a lock on their door (and I won’t go into the details, but there are things that teenagers do that often put them in harm’s way, and locking a door is often not in their best interest.)
I recall listening to an interview with Vanessa Williams. She said that she violated some house and life rules, and she came home one day to discover that her mom had actually removed the door to her room…no more privacy was allowed until she turned her act around.
In this day and age where privacy is becoming harder and harder to protect, it just reminds me to “do the right thing” even when no one is looking. It makes it a lot easier to explain your actions later when questioned.

Why is Generation Y called such? This cartoonist from the Journal de Quebec has one idea:

Okay…this is really funny. In order to get the full effect, make sure to go back to the previous and following dates to watch the whole story:
